Role Overview
Our client, an established, international alternative investment manager specialising in a range of alternative asset classes, including private equity, real estate, private debt, infrastructure and hedge funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct AML assessments and due diligence on investment opportunities, including screening, risk analysis, client onboarding and the review of potential financial crime concerns.
- Support the development and implementation of the compliance monitoring framework, policies, procedures and annual monitoring plan.
- Provide independent second-line oversight across investment, operational, finance and client servicing activities, challenging controls and escalating identified issues.
- Maintain and enhance the operational risk framework, including risk and control self-assessments (RCSAs), risk registers and key risk indicators (KRIs).
- Oversee operational incidents, losses and remediation activities, including root cause analysis, action tracking and management escalation.
- Advise management and employees on regulatory matters, deliver compliance reporting and training, and support governance and regulatory engagement.

Key Requirements
- Degree in Law, Finance, Economics or a related discipline; professional qualifications such as ACAMS or FRM would be advantageous.
- At least five years' experience in a risk or compliance role within an asset management, investment management or alternative investments environment.
- Practical knowledge of UK and Luxembourg regulatory frameworks, particularly those relevant to alternative investment funds.
- Experience across alternative investment strategies, ideally including private equity, real estate and/or hedge funds, with an understanding of fund operational processes.
- Strong understanding of AML, financial crime controls, compliance monitoring and operational risk management frameworks.
- Highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented, with strong communication skills, fluent written and spoken English, and an interest in using AI and technology to improve workflows.
