Risk Data Analyst Intern

Investment Banking | London | 6 Month Contract

We're working with a leading global Investment Bank seeking a Risk Data Analyst Intern to join a high-performing Risk Technology team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for to gain hands-on experience within a front-office risk environment, working closely with Risk Analysts, Product Owners and Engineering teams.

You will support the development and enhancement of risk data integration solutions, helping to ingest and transform risk sensitivities from front-office risk engines into enterprise data platforms. The role offers exposure to Python development, data engineering, risk systems and Agile delivery within a global banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the squad to ingest and transform risk sensitivities from front-office risk engines into strategic data integration platforms.
  • Design, develop and maintain Python-based data ingestion and transformation scripts.
  • Support rapid prototyping activities to validate new integration concepts and solutions.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of scalable, reliable and performant application components.
  • Work closely with Risk Analysts and Product Owners to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Help optimise data processing pipelines, ensuring performance, quality and responsiveness.
  • Investigate production and data quality issues, supporting the implementation of robust solutions.
  • Contribute to code quality, automation, testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement and collaborative design sessions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline.
  • Strong Python programming skills and understanding of software development fundamentals.
  • Good knowledge of data structures, algorithms and object-oriented programming.
  • Familiarity with SQL and data manipulation techniques.
  • Understanding of data processing, ETL or data integration concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work within a collaborative Agile environment.

  • Exposure to financial services, investment banking or risk management.
  • Knowledge of data engineering tools and cloud technologies.
  • Experience using Git, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Understanding of financial products, trading or market risk concepts.
