We provide end-to-end giving infrastructure, pioneering research, and access to a global network of experts. In other words, we help tech leaders become strategic philanthropists. Our members include founders and leaders behind companies such as Airbnb, UiPath, Dropbox, Skype, Spotify, and Uber.
We focus on deploying capital where it can achieve the greatest impact, guided by evidence, careful analysis, and long-term thinking.
Salary circa £45,000–£60,000 depending on location
About the Role
The Risk & Data Security Manager owns the day-to-day execution, auditing, and continuous improvement of our risk management frameworks and data protection policies. With an increased focus on AI and Data Security, you will balance maintaining a secure environment as we scale, with supporting our team to innovate and use AI responsibly.
Reporting to the Head of Legal & Risk, this role ensures our global policies and processes are watertight against fraud, phishing, data breaches, operational errors, and other potential risk events.
What You'll Do
Risk Management
- Maintain the Enterprise Risk Register, collaborating with risk owners to identify, assess, and implement mitigation controls.
- Maintain risk management tools to measure probability and impact accurately.
- Investigate, monitor, and record risk events, proactively raising organizational awareness of threats and driving post-mortem reviews to prevent recurrence.
- Manage the organization’s global insurance coverage portfolio.
- Support the Head of Legal & Risk in preparing materials for the Audit & Risk Committee (ARC), including the Quarterly Risk Report which is shared with the US and UK Boards as well as the ARC.

Data Protection & Security
- Act as the internal champion and primary operational contact for data protection (e.g., GDPR).
- Manage the day-to-day relationship with our external Data Protection Officer (DPO; currently Legal Nodes).
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments and risk reviews on new products, platforms, and vendors, including security, GDPR, and data-handling reviews.
Compliance Operations
- Maintain the global compliance tracking framework.
- Coordinate international filings (e.g., US filings, German annual activity reports) for review by the Head of Legal.
- Partner across the organization to ensure data security best practices are baked into our architecture, that policies are robust and regularly reviewed, and are appropriately audited.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
You’ll have:
- 4+ years in risk management, compliance, or data protection.
- Strong foundational knowledge of data protection and basic data security principles.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, impact-driven environment.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with experience of delivering through colleagues.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a knack for spotting operational vulnerabilities and designing simple, elegant controls to fix them.
- Attention to detail.
- Numeracy skills.
LOCATION & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
You’ll need to be within commutable distance of London, to sit in our office 1-2 days per week (or more if you wish!). Our team is globally distributed across the UK and US, so comfort working across time zones is important.
