Your work will actually influence investment decisions, not just sit in a technology silo.
This is a hedge fund that spun out from one of the top performing global multi-strategy firms. They have recently moved into a larger London office and are growing headcount significantly across quant development, market data and risk development. It is an early stage of that growth, which means the work you do now will shape how things are built.
Role and Impact
You will be working directly alongside risk managers, sitting close to the investment side of the business. When you build something here, you will see the impact on real decisions and processes. That is not the case everywhere.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Technical Environment
On the technical side, you will be part of a greenfield ClickHouse data system build. There is also a migration away from an internal scripting language towards more widely used languages. They are keeping things tech agnostic, so whether you work in Python, Java or C#, you will not be at a disadvantage. Day to day you will also be building out risk tooling and PNL attribution work alongside the larger initiatives.
Company Structure
The structure here is flat and lean. There are no siloed roles. You will have direct access to the business and the people making decisions, which is rare at this level.

Why This Might Be Right for You
Three reasons this might prompt you to make a move:
- You want your technical work to have a genuine commercial impact.
- You are tired of being kept away from the business side of things.
- You want to join a firm at an early enough stage that your contributions actually matter.
Experience with Python and data is a nice to have. What matters more is that you want to work closely with the business and take ownership of meaningful work.
