You'll sit with the people who actually use what you build.
This is a Risk Developer role at a leading hedge fund with serious ambition to grow their AUM, and the setup is straightforward. You work directly alongside risk managers, analysts, and portfolio managers. You build the tools they rely on. You have a real say in how the function develops. No business analysts sitting between you and the work. No project managers adding layers. Just you, the team, and the problem.
The work itself spans portfolio analytics, distributed systems, and AI. Several of the AI initiatives are currently under NDA, which tells you something about where the team is heading. You would be joining at an early stage of that work, helping to shape how these capabilities get built into risk and across the wider business. That kind of timing matters.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
One of the things that makes this place different is the pace. There is no red tape here. New tools can go from idea to implementation in days or weeks, not quarters. When you build something, it gets used.
The team is tech agnostic. They care about strong engineering, not a specific background so you could be a quant dev, data engineer, or software engineer more broadly. Finance experience is also not a requirement. That said, Python and experience working with large or complex datasets will be particularly relevant to the work you would be doing day to day.
