Role Overview:

The role will support strategic decision making, operational planning, and risk mitigation by supporting the delivery of timely intelligence assessments, and strategic insights within the Security team at Formula 1.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Intelligence Collection & Delivery:

  • Review, triage, and disseminate intelligence: Monitor F1 Corporate Security’s intelligence feeds, assessing the relevance, credibility, and impact of information, and produce clear, concise updates tailored to internal stakeholders, including senior executives and operational teams.
  • Deliver strategic assessments and regular intelligence products: Provide timely analysis, forecasts, and geopolitical assessments to support strategic decision making, operational planning, and risk mitigation across the business, including key risk assessments before all F1 events and weekly and monthly reports, briefings, and dashboards on emerging risks and geopolitical trends affecting F1’s global operations.
  • Monitor emerging threat vectors: Identify, track, and assess issues linked to key F1 engagement themes, including political instability, protests, criminal activity, terrorism, use of drones, and other risk vectors that may impact events, staff, and operations.
  • Deliver in depth geopolitical analysis: Provide high quality, contextualised insight into complex geopolitical environments where F1 operates. Support scenario planning and crisis management preparedness with well founded analytical outputs.
  • Support venue and race location risk assessments: Work alongside the Security Team and Race Promotion Team to deliver analytical input and risk evaluations for prospective and confirmed race locations, informing business decisions.
  • Monitor Persons and Groups of Interest: Assist the Security Services Manager and Corporate Security Manager in identifying, tracking, assessing, and escalating Persons of Interest (POIs) and Groups of Interest (GOIs) in accordance with internal processes and risk thresholds.
  • Knowledge Management: Maintain the intelligence repository, country and venue baseline files, and POI/GOI records so assessments are auditable and reusable.
  • Support race weekend operations in the GSOC: Work as part of the Global Security Operations Centre (GSOC) during race weekends to provide intelligence support, manage incident reporting, and triage OSINT investigations for escalation to external intelligence partners

  • Vendor Management & Outsourced Analyst Collection Management: Support the ongoing vendor management of F1’s Intelligence Providers and portfolio analyst teams.
  • Develop intelligence capabilities: Support the Security Services Manager in evolving the F1 Intelligence function by monitoring new intelligence providers, industry developments, and emerging analytical tools. Contribute to designing improved analytical processes and workflows.
  • Collection planning and requirements management: Translate stakeholder requirements into prioritised intelligence outputs and track coverage gaps across providers.
  • Tooling and alerting development: Build and maintain automated monitoring, alerting, and dashboarding workflows to speed up detection and reporting.
  • Compliance and data handling: Ensure OSINT activity, records, and screening are conducted within legal, privacy, and ethical guidelines, working with Legal and Data Protection.

Travel Risk Management:

  • Travel risk assessment and briefing: Produce destination and route risk assessments, advisories, and pre-departure briefings for travelling staff and senior executives, including journey-management input for higher-risk race locations.
  • Traveller tracking and duty of care: Support traveller tracking and alerting during race weekends and business travel, escalating incidents affecting F1 personnel and supporting relocation or evacuation decisions.
  • Travel risk framework and assurance: Support the Security Services Manager in maintaining F1’s travel risk processes, including policy, approval workflows, assistance provider performance, and post-trip lessons learned.
  • Training and awareness: Deliver briefings and awareness sessions to security colleagues and wider business teams on emerging threats and reporting routes.

What Are We Looking For?

Personal Qualities

In this role it is essential that you are:

  • Dedicated: Reliably delivers intelligence products under GSOC race-weekend pressure and tight deadlines, proactively monitoring feeds, POIs/GOIs, and threats. Takes strong ownership of accuracy, continuity, and vendor/analyst coordination relied on by senior stakeholders.
  • Integrity: Handles confidential intelligence and POI/GOI data with discretion, sharing it only when appropriate. Delivers objective, evidence-based assessments free from bias, and manages intelligence providers and partners transparently in line with F1 standards.
  • Innovative: Proactively improves analytical processes and workflows to keep pace with new providers and industry trends. Champions AI/LLM tools and Power Automate for faster insight and applies creative thinking to novel situations like new race locations or emerging threats.

Qualifications

You may also have the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in security studies, International Relations, Political Science, Geopolitics, or a closely related field.
  • Master’s degree in security studies, International Relations, Political Science, Geopolitics, or a closely related field.
  • Professional qualifications in Open-Source Intelligence or Corporate Investigations.

Experience

Prior to the role it is essential that you:

  • Have 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in geopolitical, political-risk, intelligence, or security analysis (public or private sector).
  • Have a proven background analysing political, security, and socio-economic developments across various regions.
  • Have experience producing strategic assessment papers, risk reporting, and scenario-based forecasts for senior stakeholders.
  • Have evidence of managing large volumes of information and synthesising complex issues into concise, actionable insight.
  • Have experience engaging with external partners: think tanks, government bodies, academic institutions, or intelligence providers.
  • Have experience supporting security operations within high-profile or high-risk environments (e.g., major events, corporate operations, crisis response).

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., security, operations, legal, policy, corporate).
  • On-the-ground regional experience in APAC or LATAM.
  • Experience working with open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools, geopolitical datasets, or threat monitoring platforms.
  • Use of AI LLM & Power Automate functionality to streamline intelligence alerting.

Knowledge & Skills

Prior to the role it is essential that you demonstrate:

  • Experience working with open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools, geopolitical datasets, or threat monitoring platforms.
  • Advanced OSINT research skills, including source evaluation and information verification.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information discretely and apply appropriate judgement.
  • Strong understanding of regional issues such as:
    • geopolitical competition.
    • organised crime and illicit networks.
    • security policy and defence postures.
    • political instability and governance.
    • regional alliances and trade blocs.
