An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Risk Lawyer to join a leading UK law firm in London.

This is a broad risk role, ideal for a qualified lawyer who enjoys working at the intersection of commercial matters, data protection and wider legal and regulatory risk.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across the firm, providing pragmatic, commercially minded advice on a range of risk issues and supporting the business in managing its legal, regulatory and operational exposure.

Key Responsibilities for the Risk Lawyer role:

  • Advising the firm on a broad range of commercial and contractual risk matters, including reviewing and negotiating supplier agreements, client terms and other commercial arrangements.
  • Providing advice on data protection and privacy matters, including GDPR compliance and the handling of data-related risk.
  • Supporting the firm with wider legal, regulatory and professional risk issues as they arise.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to identify, assess and mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
  • Reviewing and developing policies, procedures and internal guidance relating to risk and compliance.
  • Providing practical and commercially focused advice to lawyers and business teams across the firm.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of appropriate risk controls and processes.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant legal, regulatory and industry developments and advising stakeholders on their potential impact.
  • Working collaboratively with other teams, including Compliance, Risk, Information Security, IT, Procurement and the wider General Counsel function.

The firm is looking for a UK-qualified solicitor with strong experience in commercial law and/or data protection, coupled with an interest in broader legal and professional risk. You may currently be working in private practice and looking to transition into an in-house or law firm risk role, or already be working within a legal, risk or compliance function.
