The Vacancy
Our Third Party Administration (TPA) Risk department is a dynamic team who provide best practice and dispute resolution advice to our pensions administration teams across the Third Party Administration business unit.
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join this department on a fixed term basis as a Risk Lead, within our Glasgow or Edinburgh office.
What will your role look like?
As our TPA risk lead, you'll help embed our risk management framework across the third party administration business. You'll work closely with risk and control owners, senior leaders and firmwide stakeholders to ensure risks are identified, assessed and managed effectively.
You'll provide clear insight into the TPA risk profile, support informed decision making and help drive a proactive risk culture. You'll also work with second line of defence teams to ensure our approach to risk management is aligned with firmwide standards while remaining practical and proportionate for the business.
Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:
- Lead the implementation and ongoing development of risk management practices across TPA.
- Own and develop the first line of defence (1LOD) risk management model within TPA.
- Deliver risk and control self-assessments in line with the firmwide risk management framework.
- Develop high-quality risk reporting for the TPA executive and firmwide governance forums.
- Improve the quality, accuracy and timeliness of risk data, risk event reporting and action tracking.
- Support risk and control owners to understand and fulfil their responsibilities.
- Help develop and apply risk appetite and tolerance measures across TPA.
- Identify, assess and escalate significant risks, emerging issues and control weaknesses.
- Oversee root cause analysis and lessons learned activity following risk events.
- Build risk capability and awareness through training, coaching and communication.
- Work closely with second line of defence teams and other specialists to ensure a consistent and effective approach to risk management.
- Represent TPA in legal, regulatory and governance forums.
- Oversee the TPA claims budget.
- Deputise for members of the TPA executive where required.
- Manage a small team responsible for complaints resolution.
- Provide support on complex or high-value complaints alongside technical specialists.
- Help ensure excellent service standards are delivered to members, clients and colleagues.
- Work with people leaders to ensure risk activities are appropriately resourced.
- Encourage a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and learning.
- Oversee the annual programme of risk-related training for TPA colleagues and stakeholders.

- GCSEs (or equivalent) in maths and English at grade C or above, or relevant comparable experience.
- A recognised risk management qualification or significant relevant industry experience.
- Experience developing and implementing risk frameworks within a financial services environment.
- Experience supporting operational risk management and control frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and experience presenting complex information to senior audiences.
- People management or leadership experience.
- A broad understanding of financial services regulation and regulatory bodies
- Knowledge of areas such as data protection, HMRC, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and The Pensions Regulator.
- Experience working across different lines of defence, although this is not essential
- Knowledge of pensions administration or pensions legislation.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
