Risk Manager – Lloyd’s Syndicate

We’re working with a high-performing Lloyd’s syndicate that is looking to appoint an experienced Risk Manager into a highly visible second-line role.

Reporting directly to the Head of Risk Management, you’ll play a key role in developing, embedding and continuously improving the Risk Management Framework and Policy, ensuring it remains aligned to the organisation’s evolving risk profile and strategic objectives.

You’ll take ownership and oversight of some of the organisation’s most important risk governance processes and metrics, including:

  • Risk Management Framework & Policy – helping shape, maintain and embed the framework across the business.
  • Risk Registers & Risk Universe – ensuring risks are accurately identified, documented, monitored and reflective of the changing business environment.
  • Risk & Control Assessments – coordinating the assessment cycle and providing meaningful second-line challenge to risk and control owners.
  • Controls – ensuring key controls are appropriately designed, documented, implemented and operating effectively.
  • Key Risk Indicators & Metrics – developing, monitoring and reporting meaningful measures of risk exposure and emerging trends.
  • Risk Events, Losses & Near Misses – driving effective investigation, root-cause analysis, escalation and remediation.
  • Senior Management Reporting – preparing insightful risk reporting for senior management, committees and key governance forums.
  • ORSA – contributing to the development and delivery of high-quality ORSA reporting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
