Senior Risk Manager
We're looking for a Senior Risk Manager for a central government department based in Plymouth or Portsmouth (hybrid) on an initial 12 months contract, paying up to £600 per day (Inside IR35).
This is a hybrid role with an expectation to attend the office three days per week.
The successful Senior Risk Manager will lead and continuously improve risk and issue management across a major infrastructure portfolio. You'll set a consistent, proportionate and evidence-based approach to identifying, assessing, treating, monitoring and escalating risks across portfolio, programme and project activity. You'll also provide strategic advice to the SRO, portfolio and programme leaders and governance bodies, helping owners understand exposure and build mitigation plans.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
