About the Role
Please note: This role requires you to be based at our client’s office in Warrington, Cheshire, 3 days per week.
Our client, one of the largest water companies in the UK, is responsible for delivering water and wastewater services in England. Their purpose is to provide sustainable, cost-effective, and socially responsible services while creating long-term value. We currently support them through programme and project management services, and we’re looking to deliver added value by bringing in strategic, expert staff.
This role involves:
- Planning and leading the delivery of a programme of works managed by an Area Delivery Team (comprising the client’s partners and contractors).
- Aligning the project with the client’s corporate values and requirements across:
- Health, safety, and wellbeing (including personnel safety, process safety, and health well-being).
- Target operating model (system thinking, situational awareness, and production line thinking).
- Outcomes (regulatory compliance, customer-centricity, and resilience).

You’ll act as the senior interface between the Area Delivery Team and the client’s business, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement (both internally and externally) towards successful delivery of capital programmes in line with corporate strategy.

Key Responsibilities
You’ll be a technical professional with:
- Expertise in cost management, promoting value for money across projects.
- Experience with risk management.
- Understanding of Mace’s delivery processes and recommended tools.
- A working knowledge of current project methodologies and tools.
- The ability to lead negotiations with third parties as a cost specialist.
- Strong stakeholder management, responding effectively to client and key stakeholder requests.
- Analytical rigor and attention to detail—able to validate and review data, reports, and documents while producing clear commentary and summaries.

Essential Requirements
- Proficiency in designing and developing risk management reports using core risk management tools at an intermediate level.
- Experience in managing teams, including delegation, coordination, appraisal, coaching, and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
- Persuasive and influential communication—able to engage clients, consultants, suppliers, and peers positively.
- Problem-solving for complex, non-routine challenges.
- Professional representation of Mace at all times.
- Current CSCS card.
Desired Experience
- Exposure to project risk management methodologies and collaborative delivery models.
- Established stakeholder relationships in fast-paced environments, including client, project teams, and key partners.
