Senior Manager, Credit Risk Oversight

As a Senior Manager in Credit Risk Oversight, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of credit quality across Nationwide’s lending portfolios. Acting as the Business Risk oversight partner, you and your team will serve as subject matter experts across the full credit management lifecycle for this portfolio.

About the Role

You will lead a team of credit risk experts, overseeing the development of Credit Risk Strategy and ensuring alignment with Nationwide’s strategic direction. Your responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that credit risk is managed within Risk Appetite, striking an appropriate balance between prudence (protecting members’ money) and delivering sustainable economic returns to support financial strength.
  • Overseeing the setting of credit policy and providing independent opinions on proposals at Group Credit Committee and MTF levels, guaranteeing a comprehensive view of end-to-end credit risk management.
  • Conducting regular deep dives into credit policy and risk mitigants, ensuring their continued relevance in managing existing and emerging risks, as well as recognising opportunities from a risk-reward balance.
  • Overseeing the assessment of IFRS 9 provisions, ensuring these are adequate and accurately reflect Nationwide’s exposure to current and future risks, while incorporating forecasts into financial planning and stress testing processes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
