Rate: £65,000 - £75,000 per annum + Car Allowance + Benefits
Location: West Cumbria
Hours of work: 40 Hours Per Week, Site Based with 1 day working from home upon completion of probation.

The Role:

As the Risk Manager you will take responsibility for the risk function on a project or section of a project. You will contribute to a result as agreed with local commercial management. You will also protect the company’s position throughout 360-degree relationships. Lastly, you will carry out risk tasks and present results in an orderly and accurate format.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain the project-wide risk management framework aligned with nuclear regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., safety case expectations, ALARP principles).
• Identify, assess, and prioritise risks across all phases of civil engineering works (design, procurement, construction, commissioning), including safety, quality, environmental, cost, and schedule risks.
• Facilitate structured risk identification workshops (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP support, constructability reviews) with multidisciplinary teams.
• Integrate risk management with project controls, including planning, cost engineering, and change management processes.
• Monitor effectiveness of risk mitigation measures and implement corrective actions where controls are inadequate.
• Ensure compliance with relevant nuclear industry regulations, standards, and client-specific requirements.
• Prepare and present regular risk reports to senior management, clients, and regulators, highlighting key threats and opportunities.
• Manage interface risks between the Partner Contractors, disciplines, and work packages in a highly regulated, complex project environment.
• Support incident investigations by analysing root causes and updating risk assessments accordingly.
• Maintain and regularly update the project risk register, including flow down to specific WPOs, ensuring clear ownership, mitigation actions, and status tracking.
• Quantify risks using qualitative and quantitative techniques, utilising ARM (e.g., risk matrices, Monte Carlo simulations for cost and schedule uncertainty).
