Our Insights and Analytics (I&A) Business Unit

Our Insights and Analytics (I&A) Business Unit brings together multi-disciplined teams of specialists across pensions, finance, risk modelling, data management and enterprise solutions. Drawing on deep technical expertise, we work closely with our consulting teams across the firm to deliver innovative and market-leading modelling and analytics, providing meaningful insights that underpin high-quality advice and help make a real difference to the financial futures of millions of people across the UK.

Exciting Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Business Unit as a Risk and Modelling Consultant. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working with talented colleagues and seeing their analysis make a real difference. We are open to candidates on either a full-time or part-time basis.

What will your role look like?

You’ll work closely with actuarial and investment client teams to scope and deliver high-quality modelling work, with a particular focus on strategy and Liability-Driven Investment (LDI) projects (with opportunities to get involved in a broader range of work). You’ll review technical analysis, interpret modelling outputs and support consultants in turning complex results into clear, practical advice for clients. You’ll also act as a trusted adviser on our wider suite of in-house analytics, helping colleagues understand how to use our tools effectively and draw meaningful insight from them. Beyond day-to-day delivery, you’ll have scope to shape how we work. This could include collaborating with proposition teams, Service Innovation and Delivery Groups, or software development teams to improve the analytics behind our services, supporting new ideas and helping us continue to improve the way we use modelling across the firm.

Key Tasks

  • Leading modelling projects, including strategy and LDI exercises, from initial scoping through to delivery.
  • Helping client teams deliver strategic advice that is underpinned by robust modelling and sound technical analysis.
  • Turning complex outputs into clear, practical insight for consultants, clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on modelling within project teams and across the wider firm.
  • Supporting colleagues to use and interpret our in-house analytics tools with confidence.
  • Sharing knowledge and providing technical leadership within the team.
  • Spotting opportunities to enhance existing services and develop new solutions for clients.
  • Helping shape the development, governance and strategic direction of modelling solutions across the business.
  • Working on varied projects that support client delivery, innovation and operational improvement.
  • Mentoring colleagues across modelling and development teams.
  • Maintaining high standards of governance, documentation and professional compliance.
  • If you have experience and an interest in coding then there will also be opportunities to be involved in model development work - but this is not essential for the role.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For

To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in a related role (e.g. actuarial or investment consulting, investment research, or other relevant experience), with an interest in developing knowledge of asset-liability modelling (ALM) or Liability-Driven Investment (LDI) modelling in a pension scheme context.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and data manipulation skills.
  • A broad understanding of UK pensions legislation, investment principles or both.
  • The ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to lead work, share ideas and support others.
  • Advanced Excel skills. Coding experience would also be helpful, but is not essential.
  • Familiarity with economic scenario generation would be helpful but is not essential.

We welcome applications from candidates with Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualifications. However, these qualifications are not essential for success in this role. We also provide study support for candidates who are actively working towards either qualification.

If this role interests you but you do not meet every requirement, we would still encourage you to apply. We value different routes into modelling, including people who have built strong technical, consulting or analytical skills elsewhere and want to develop in this direction. We will support the right person to build the additional modelling knowledge needed to grow in the role. We would also be keen to hear about any other skills, experience or perspectives you could bring to the team.
