Risk SME / Risk Transformation Consultant – Credit & Market Risk

6-Month Initial Contract | Outside IR35 | UK / Remote with Occasional Travel to Germany

We are looking for an experienced Risk SME / Risk Transformation Consultant to join a major Risk technology and transformation programme within the Energy, Refining & Commodity Trading sector.

The role requires someone who combines strong Credit Risk and Market Risk expertise with proven experience delivering Risk Platform implementations, Target Operating Model design and business process transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Risk SME across Credit Risk and Market Risk
  • Support the implementation and transformation of enterprise Risk Platforms / Risk Systems
  • Work with platforms such as CubeLogic or comparable Credit and Market Risk solutions
  • Define and document current-state and future-state Risk processes
  • Design and document Target Operating Models (TOMs) across people, process, technology, data and governance
  • Gather, analyse and document detailed business and functional requirements
  • Translate Risk requirements into practical system and technology solutions
  • Produce high-quality documentation covering business processes, workflows, controls, requirements and operating models
  • Work closely with Risk, Trading, Technology, Architecture and Data teams
  • Identify gaps between existing Risk processes and target platform capabilities
  • Support the wider implementation lifecycle including solution design, testing, migration, implementation and business readiness

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong subject matter expertise across Credit Risk and Market Risk
  • Proven experience delivering Risk System / Risk Platform implementations
  • Experience with CubeLogic would be highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of Credit Risk and Market Risk processes, controls, data and reporting
  • Proven Target Operating Model (TOM) design experience
  • Excellent business process mapping and documentation skills
  • Strong Business Analysis / Functional Consulting capabilities
  • Experience documenting complex business and functional requirements
  • Experience translating Risk requirements into technology solutions
  • Strong understanding of the interaction between Risk processes, data and technology platforms
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience working across Business, Risk, Trading and Technology teams

Industry Experience

  • Energy, Commodity Trading, Refining or Physical Trading experience would be highly desirable
  • Understanding of physical and financial commodity trading environments would be beneficial
  • Candidates from Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Banking, Asset Management or the wider Buy Side will also be considered
  • Candidates from Financial Services should have strong Credit / Market Risk knowledge combined with demonstrable Risk Platform implementation experience

Contract Details

  • 6-month initial contract with potential to extend
  • Outside IR35
  • Predominantly UK-based / remote working
  • Occasional travel to Germany
  • Energy / Refining / Commodity Trading programme
