DP World, the fast-growing transportation and logistics leader that currently manages more than 10% of world trade, is seeking an experienced Road Freight Operations Specialist (National Groupage & Distribution) to join our growing Freight Forwarding office in Bucharest, Romania.
Your Responsibilities:
- Planning and coordinating national groupage, collection, and distribution operations.
- Organising and optimising daily freight flows across hubs, cross-docks, and distribution networks.
- Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of operational data, including addresses, contacts, dimensions, weights, loading metres, and special delivery requirements.
- Consolidating freight to maximise vehicle utilisation and optimise transport costs.
- Coordinating daily national collection, distribution, multi-drop, and multi-pickup activities.
- Creating and issuing transport orders to carriers before transport execution.
- Managing carrier performance and monitoring loading, unloading, and delivery deadlines.
- Tracking shipments through Track & Trace systems and proactively addressing operational deviations.
- Ensuring compliance with agreed transit times and customer service levels.
- Maintaining effective communication with customers, carriers, warehouses, and operational partners.
- Analysing vehicle utilisation, route efficiency, delivery performance, loading levels, transport costs, and operational visibility.
- Driving network and process improvements, preparing regular operational reports and KPI updates, and supporting additional business requirements assigned by management.
Your Profile:
- Minimum two years in groupage, national distribution, collection, control tower, domestic transport, or comparable logistics operations. Experience limited to FTL transport is an advantage but does not replace groupage and distribution experience.
- Strong knowledge of national groupage, collection, and distribution, including freight consolidation, hub operations, cross-docking, multi-drop deliveries, and multi-pickup collections.
- Good understanding of route planning, vehicle-capacity utilisation, chargeable weight, volumetric calculations, transport profitability, and cost structures.
- Good knowledge of PC applications and TMS platforms, with practical experience using Track & Trace systems and monitoring operational KPIs.
- Solid understanding of carrier management, Romanian geography, and key logistics and industrial areas. Experience in retail, automotive, FMCG, or industrial distribution is an advantage.
- English language skills are considered an advantage.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate high volumes of shipments, collections, and deliveries in a fast-paced distribution environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to prioritise effectively, make timely operational decisions, and manage exceptions through rapid corrective action.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and service quality.
- A proactive approach to improving operational efficiency, controlling costs, and making effective use of available resources.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively with multiple internal departments, carriers, customers, and external operational partners.
