Road Freight Operator

We're looking for an experienced Road Freight Operator to join our team in Biggleswade. You'll play a key part in coordinating import and export shipments. From accepting bookings and preparing customs paperwork to working with the warehouse and our customs team, you'll help keep each movement on track from start to finish.

This is a hands-on, varied role for someone who knows their way around road freight and enjoys bringing people and moving parts together. You'll be a go-to contact for clients and suppliers, keeping them in the loop with clear, proactive updates. When plans change or questions come up, you'll take a proactive approach and find a practical solution.

What you'll do?

  • Process import and export bookings from our pricing team, adding each shipment to our transport management system (TMS).
  • Help plan and build export groupage trailers, coordinating trailer bookings and loading requirements.
  • Provide operational cover for full truckload and less-than-truckload (FTL/LTL) movements.
  • Prepare export customs entries, T1 documents and other trailer paperwork.
  • Coordinate the exchange of export documents with groupage drivers.
  • Work with our customs team to support import clearances.
  • Stay in close contact with clients and suppliers, sharing updates and dealing with queries proactively.
  • Work with the warehouse team to sort out discrepancies, damage and trailer requirements.
  • Help with invoicing and keep shipment records accurate.

What you'll bring?

  • Experience in road freight operations, ideally covering import and export movements.
  • A good understanding of groupage and export documentation, with experience in customs or T1 documentation.
  • Clear, confident communication with customers, suppliers, colleagues and drivers.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and good attention to detail.
  • Confidence using a TMS and other day-to-day computer systems.
