Hours: 40 hours per week

If you have experience in mechanical, engineering or technical roles, your skills could be the perfect fit for an AA Roadside Patrol. We'll provide the specialist training, support and development to help you succeed.

Whether you've served as a Vehicle Mechanic, REME, Royal Engineers, RAF Mechanical Technician, Royal Navy Marine Engineer, Recovery Mechanic, HGV Mechanic, or in another technical, engineering or maintenance role, your experience could provide an excellent foundation for becoming an AA Roadside Patrol.

This is the job

As an AA Roadside Patrol, you'll help our members when they need it most. You'll diagnose vehicle faults, carry out roadside repairs where possible, keep customers safe and make informed decisions to get them moving again.

Working independently with the support of an experienced operational team, you'll use your technical expertise, problem-solving skills and calm approach to deliver outstanding service.

What will I be doing?

  • Responding to roadside breakdowns and managing each incident through to resolution
  • Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle faults
  • Carrying out safe roadside repairs where appropriate
  • Completing dynamic risk assessments to ensure everyone remains safe
  • Communicating clearly and reassuring customers
  • Working with other AA teams to coordinate onward journeys when required
  • Developing your technical skills through ongoing training

What do I need?

We're Looking For People With

  • Mechanical, engineering or technical experience gained through military service or civilian employment
  • Strong problem solving and fault-finding skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service
  • The ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • A safety first mindset
  • A full UK driving licence

You don't need experience with every aspect of modern vehicle technology. We'll provide training in fault code diagnostics, hybrid and electric vehicles, modern roadside repair techniques, and you'll work towards achieving the IMI Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance Activities.
