The Waking Night Teams
The Waking Night Teams are responsible for providing support and safeguarding our clients, including dealing with emergencies. There will be 1 – 2 Waking Night Workers based at each residential project and as a Roaming Night Worker you will be required to support this work by assisting when our colleagues are in need of support or covering when they are absent. You will also have responsibility for maintaining a full and accurate log of events and reporting on incidents and any maintenance issues. The work will be varied and the responsive Roaming Night Workers will be a vital link between the 24-hour residential projects at night.
There will be occasions where you will be required to lone work on site, especially when emergency cover is required at a service at short notice. As such you will have the adaptability and confidence to move between residential services to meet the needs of the organisation. Due to working across various locations, a full, clean driving license is required.
You will have good communication skills and an awareness of the issues that affect homeless individuals. You will be passionate about working for a charity that is striving to end local homelessness.
What You Bring to the Role
- Good understanding of homelessness, drug and alcohol use and addiction, and mental health issues
- Skilled in active listening and building trust-based relationships
- Decisive and capable of handling emergencies with a calm, problem-solving approach
- Proficient in de-escalation techniques and managing challenging behaviour
- Willing and able to work on a shift pattern, including bank holidays, weekends, and unsociable hours to ensure continuous support for residents.
- Adaptive to working alone and within a team, taking accountability for completing tasks

Shift each Friday night, and alternating Saturday nights starting at 10pm and finishing at 8.30am
Salary
£11,480 per annum (FTE £28,700)
