Role: Robotics and Motion Control Engineer
Location: Tewkesbury, 1-day WFH per week
Salary: Competitive
Description:
As a result of continuing expansion, we are recruiting a robotics and motion control development engineer to join our team and help us designing and developing the next generation of our robotic and motion control systems.
Trio has developed a complete industrial robotics solution with kinematic and dynamics algorithms, path and trajectory planning, and other advanced mathematical solutions. We design and test our own robotics scripting language and develop new commands and structures.
Our Motion Coordinators are used internationally for industrial high-speed robotic and machine control, and incorporate advanced algorithms, software and electronics - including 64-bit multicore ARM processors and FPGA’s.
The role will involve:
- Leading and owning our robotic and motion control system development roadmap
- Engineering research and algorithm development
- The design, development, implementation and delivery of our robotic solutions
- Direct contact with customers and real applications, via our application development teams

Applicants Requirements:
Applicants must have a good degree, masters or PhD in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mathematics or a strongly related discipline. They must be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of the principles behind industrial motion and robotic control, gained over at least 4 years of experience, ideally on industrial or high reliability projects.
Experience with the following will be advantageous:
- Good understanding of kinematics and dynamics for industrial robots
- Algorithm development
- MathWorks MATLAB™
- High level programming languages; for example, C, Python, MATLAB™ / Simulink™, ABB Rapid™
- Experience with different industrial robots and systems
- Knowledge of interfacing automation hardware with electrical systems, sensors and actuators; and the basic principles of machine control
- Control systems
- Servo and stepper motors
