Job Title: Lead Robotics Engineer
The Role
This is a hands-on technical leadership position focused on core robotics software development and system-level delivery. You will take ownership of the primary ROS 2 software stack, guiding a multidisciplinary engineering team across robotics, simulation, and integration. The role balances direct code contribution, architecture reviews, and sprint delivery with practical testing directly on heavy automated machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and evolve the ROS 2 and behaviour-tree control systems coordinating industrial manipulators, custom tooling, vision, and sensors.
- Translate high-level operational targets into clear engineering roadmaps, managing technical dependencies, capacity, and milestones.
- Actively contribute to production codebases, conduct rigorous code reviews, and unblock engineers to maintain high development velocity.
- Solve real-world hardware integration challenges to ensure equipment operates reliably when handling variable raw materials in field conditions.
- Mentor engineers across the team and help steer future technical hiring as the engineering function grows.

- Strong track record building and deploying production-grade robotics software on real physical hardware.
- Deep expertise in ROS 2 architecture and distributed software design for complex machinery.
- High proficiency in modern C++ and Python.
- Experience taking systems from greenfield development through to full commissioning and operational deployment.
- Practical understanding of the wider automation stack, including PLCs, industrial robot arms, actuators, and sensor interfaces.
- Proven technical leadership capability with sound judgement on balancing architectural purity against delivery timelines.
