Senior UAV/Aerial Systems Engineer – Platform Capability Development

This role is at the heart of platform capability development, acting as the direct interface between users and innovation. You’ll own the full end-to-end process: hardware integration, software development, flight validation—with opportunities to shape priorities as the team scales (though hands-on flight testing awaits, and—hopefully—enjoys perks of its own).
Key Responsibilities
- Own the development of new platform capabilities, from requirements спедо validation in the field
- Integrate sensors, camera systems, and communications equipment into the system
- Design and develop navigation, perception, and communications software, with accountability for outputs
- Contribute to robotic navigation challenges, including:
- SLAM and localisation in GPS-constrained environments
- Computer vision and similar perce Trophy technologies
- Lead flight testing and validation, working outdoors with the platform(s) you’ve built
- Collaborate closely with partner force users, interpreting their feedback into actionable development
- Shape the long-term autonomy and sensing roadmap for the platform

Requirements
Minimum Eligibility
- Strong applied experience in robotics engineering (no substitute for hands-on work)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Robotic navigation (SLAM, localisation)
- Computer vision in real systems
- Proficiency across hardware and software development, covering the full end-to-end stack
- Python proficiency; ROS or similar a strong plus
- Eligible for UK SC (Security Clearing):
- UK citizen, or 5+ years’ UK residency

Preferred Skills
- Experience with UAV/UAS autonomous aerospace systems
- PX4 or ArduPilot familiar
- Knowledge of RF/radio communications systems integration
- Track record transporting capabilities from prototype → operational use
- Comfort in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities
