Job Description
Make your mark as ROC ROV Pilot Trainee (Onshore) at Boskalis Subsea Services in Aberdeen. This role is a developmental position aimed at training and preparing new entrants for careers in remote subsea intervention using Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). Based in a Remote Operations Centre (ROC), the trainee will learn foundational technical skills, remote piloting techniques, digital workflows, and real-time operational support under the supervision of experienced pilots and supervisors. This role supports both live offshore operations and simulated training missions to build operational readiness.
Your responsibilities as a ROC ROV Pilot Trainee:
- Assist in monitoring and supporting remote ROV operations from the ROC under supervision.
- Learn to pilot ROVs via simulators and real-time systems during controlled or low-risk operations.
- Participate in pre-dive checks, mission planning, and post-operation documentation.
- Observe and document subsea operations, sensor readings, and real-time video feeds.
- Support the collection and tagging of visual and sensor data during ROV missions.
- Complete training modules and practical assessments as part of a structured development plan.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and organized ROC work environment.
- Attend briefings, debriefings, and technical training sessions as scheduled.
- Report technical or procedural observations to Senior Pilots or the ROC Supervisor.

Qualifications
Your Qualities and Qualifications
You can make your mark as an ROC ROV Pilot Trainee if you have:
- Relevant technical, digital or operational background (desirable).
- Aptitude for technical systems and data interfaces.
- Completion of, or commitment to complete, an IMCA-approved ROV Introductory Training Course.
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical and/or electronic systems.
- Proficiency with computer systems and digital interfaces.
- Strong interest in subsea robotics, ocean technology, and remote operations.
- Good communication, observation, and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail, procedural awareness, and safety focus.
- Eagerness to learn and develop within a structured competence framework.

- Your team: you will report to the ROC ROV Supervisor.
- Where you will work: You will work in our designated on-site Remote Operations Centre.
- Full/part- time job: The position of ROC ROV Pilot Trainee is a permanent role and will be offered on a Guaranteed Days Contract basis.
