Basil Fry (part of the Jensten Group) is excited to announce a brand-new opportunity for an enthusiastic Underwriting Assistant to join their friendly and dedicated Underwriting team.
This is a fantastic chance to develop your underwriting expertise within a market-leading specialist insurance provider.

As an Underwriting Assistant, you’ll provide vital support to the Schemes Underwriter and Schemes Underwriting Manager.
Working in a team of 3, and a wider office of 38, you will be based in their modern Leatherhead site, which is in easy walking distance from the station and bus routes.
This is an office-based role, working Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:15 pm.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities Will Include
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Schemes Underwriter and Schemes Underwriting Manager.
- Help prepare and process quotes, renewals, MTAs, endorsements, and policy documents with accuracy.
- Collect and check basic risk information from brokers and clients, raising any queries where needed.
- Support the risk assessment process by gathering documents and identifying missing details.
- Keep internal systems and records up to date through accurate data entry and file management.
- Assist with payment monitoring and follow-ups as part of credit control activities.
- Respond promptly and professionally to broker enquiries, ensuring a positive service experience.
- Manage your own workload by prioritising tasks and helping monitor shared inboxes.
- Work closely with the underwriting team to support day-to-day operations and team goals.
- Suggest improvements to processes and customer service as you learn and develop in the role.

About You
To join us as an Underwriting Assistant, you’ll bring a genuine passion for developing a career in underwriting. You’ll be proactive, detail-oriented, and confident in building relationships with brokers and internal teams.
What We’re Looking For
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with brokers and internal teams.
- Ability to work effectively in an office-based environment (Leatherhead location).
