About the Role
Due to continued growth and an increasing workload, Thomas Stewart Builders Ltd is looking for an experienced and reliable roofer who takes pride in their work and consistently delivers a high standard of workmanship.
Your primary trade will be roofing, working across a variety of domestic and commercial properties throughout West Central Scotland. Our workload includes planned and reactive maintenance, repairs, and wider refurbishment projects.
We're looking for someone with good all-round roofing experience who is comfortable working independently as well as alongside our other trades. You should be confident identifying roofing defects, determining appropriate repairs, and completing work to a high standard.
As a multi-trade contractor, the nature of our work means that jobs will not always involve one trade alone. While roofing will be your primary trade, you will also be expected to work alongside and assist other members of our team with general building, maintenance, and refurbishment works where reasonable, appropriate, and within your capabilities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
