About the role

We are looking for a Roofers Mate to join our South Coast team to assist a qualified roofer and carry out remedial works to a high standard including guttering, slate replacement and leak repairs.

The role will primarily cover Portsmouth with additional support required across the surrounding areas as business needs dictate.

This is a permanent role working 40 hours per week. Normal working hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. You will also be required to work a 10:30am - 7:00pm late shift and Saturday mornings on a rota basis.

To ensure timely access to our residents, the successful candidate must live within the service area. A full UK driving licence is essential and a basic DBS check is required, which will be paid for by Guinness.

The successful candidate will have a strong focus on customer service, work effectively to performance targets, and maintain accurate records. A commitment to health and safety is essential, including the ability to undertake physical work, assess risks and operate safely when working at height.

You will be able to demonstrate these essential skills:

  • Proven ability to carry out minor remedial roofing works to a competent standard such as (but not limited to) guttering, slate replacement & minor leaks.
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment within agreed performance targets.
  • Proven ability to work methodically, follow agreed procedures and accurately record data and information.
  • Ability to carry out physical tasks and lift weights in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Ability to operate safely, taking into account any environmental circumstances and possible risks including working at height.

Desirable skills:

  • Health and Safety knowledge.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Experience of working within the social housing sector.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Level II NVQ.
  • PASMA.
