Abbey Roofing is a well-established roofing contractor based near Bedford serving clients across the South East of England. The company delivers both commercial and private roofing contracts, offering a range of services from new installations to repairs and maintenance. Team members work closely with customers, suppliers, and site partners to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to specification.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Roofing Estimator role based in Lidlington. The Roofing Estimator will review drawings, specifications, and site information to prepare accurate measurements and detailed cost estimates for commercial and domestic roofing projects.

Responsibilities

- Sourcing and comparing material and labor costs
- Preparing quotations and tender submissions
- Updating estimates based on client feedback or design changes
- Liaising with clients, contractors, and suppliers
- Attending site visits or surveys when required
- Supporting project handover to the operations team
- Maintaining records of estimates
- Tracking project outcomes for future benchmarking
- Contributing to continuous improvement of estimating processes
Qualifications
- Experience in roofing, construction estimating, or a closely related field, with strong understanding of common roofing systems and materials.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings, specifications, and site survey reports.
- Comfort with using spreadsheets and estimating or project management software, along with solid numerical and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with clients, suppliers, and internal teams, including clear written quotation and report preparation.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Full driving license and willingness to travel locally for site visits as required.
- Relevant construction or quantity surveying qualifications, trade background, or equivalent experience; knowledge of UK building regulations and health and safety standards is beneficial.
