Are you looking to work for an organisation whose culture is driven by our HEART principles – Honesty, Excellence, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork? Where you can be yourself, feel supported, and help to make a difference to the next generation? Somewhere you can say: “I did that.”
Nestled within the historic former Elsie Inglis maternity hospital, in the heart of Abbeyhill and just a short walk from Holyrood Park, our welcoming one-storey nursery is full of warmth and character. With vibrant playrooms and children aged 3 months to 5 years, Elsie’s is a place where curiosity thrives, laughter echoes, and every day feels a little bit special.
Our team is a wonderful blend of long-standing staff and fresh faces — all friendly, supportive, and united by one shared purpose: giving children the very best start in life.
And now… we’re growing!
We are currently looking for a Room Leader to join our team.
We offer opportunities across a range of age groups and are always happy to chat about your preferences and interests.
✨ Who You Are… ✨
You might be our perfect fit if you can:
- Sing nursery rhymes with confidence (perfect pitch definitely not required!)
- Instantly transform into a dinosaur, princess, firefighter, or friendly monster
- Read a story upside down while answering five questions per page
- Count wiggly children faster than a fully caffeinated mathematician
- Dance in the rain like it’s a team-building exercise
- Pop into Tesco proudly wearing glitter, paint, or mysterious toddler goo
- Offer warm hugs and gentle reassurance whenever little hearts need it

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
