WHY SECOND NATURE
Care, made daily.
Second Nature is part of Lamington Group. Hometel is a word Lamington Group created and owns. We design and run hometels, places that are practical but still feel good to stay in, built around how people actually travel and live. Feeling properly looked after matters too, so our teams pay attention to what guests actually need, not what a script tells them to do.
We’re looking for people who care about the work in front of them and the people around them. If that sounds like you, keep reading.
THE ROLE
What’s the role about?
You are a Room Maker at Second Nature. You don’t just clean rooms, you restore them. Every room you finish is a fresh start for a guest. Every detail you get right is part of what makes someone feel settled and at ease.
You take pride in the craft of the work. You know what a well-made room looks and feels like. You notice when something’s not quite right, and you fix it. A clean room isn’t just clean, it’s welcoming, comfortable, and a sign of care.
Your work matters. Guests choose Second Nature partly because of the quality of their rooms. You’re the one who makes the room what it is: a place to rest, to live, to be comfortable.
Who You Are
Five things we hire for.
These are the Second Nature values. We use them across every role in the Group, from Maintenance to Front of House to the kitchens. If three or more of these sound like you on a good day, this is your kind of place.
- Use Instinct. You notice the small things, a wrinkle in the duvet, the soap not quite in place, a stray hair in the bathroom. You trust that these details matter to guests, and you sort them.
- Own It. This room is yours to get right. You don’t pass problems to a teammate, you fix them yourself. You take pride in every corner you clean and every bed you make. Your care turns a room into a welcome.
- Include All. You ask teammates what they need from you, and help them when they’re struggling. You build a team spirit where everyone supports each other. You’re stronger together than alone.
- Stay Curious. You watch experienced room makers and notice their techniques. You ask your supervisor for tips on speed or quality. You try approaches that help you work smarter while keeping your standards.
- Think Big. You don’t just clean rooms, you craft an experience. You imagine guests arriving and immediately feeling cared for. You suggest small touches, organisation, comfort details, that show real thought.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

We don’t hire for a hotel-industry background. We can teach you the systems. We can’t teach you how to read a room.
What You'll Do
On a good day, you might…
- Clean and restore guest rooms and public areas to a high standard, every day.
- Dust, hoover and sanitise thoroughly, working methodically so nothing gets missed.
- Change bed linen carefully, with corners that are properly done.
- Clean bathrooms meticulously, so every room feels spotless.
- Check your own work before you finish a room, and fix or report anything that’s not right, like loose fittings or torn fabric.
- Keep toiletries stocked and towels folded properly.
- Respect guest privacy and personal belongings at all times, and stay discreet if a guest is present.
- Work efficiently to hit your daily targets, and help teammates who are struggling with theirs.
What You'll Bring
Experience that fits the role.
- Experience in cleaning, whether that’s hotel cleaning or something else entirely. No hotel background needed, we’ll teach you the rest.
- Real attention to detail and pride in doing things well.
- Reliability, with good attendance.
- A positive attitude and willingness to help your teammates.
- Physical fitness for the demands of the role.
- Professional, respectful communication with guests.
