Urgent Requirement for Experienced Painter/Blaster
We currently have an urgent requirement for an experienced Painter/Blaster for a contract running from Monday 17th Aug to 30th Sept 2026 (with potential for extension). Those who are not local to the area will receive £50 per night for accommodation, along with mileage expenses.
Overall Purpose of Role
Blaster/Painters are appointed as competent persons for surface preparation and application of coatings to steel work, vessels, pipework, and tank internals. This can be in various locations, onshore/offshore on client’s sites as requested. The Blaster/Painter will work in-line with Client Site Rules and the Applus UK Ltd Safe Working Operating Procedure. The role is all in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures to deliver the highest safety quality and business management standards.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
The Roles and Responsibilities of the Blaster/Painter will include but not be limited to:
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concerns.
- Operate under instruction from FM QA/QC Lead, FM Supervisors, RA Project Manager, or Service Coordinators.
- Apply coatings through conventional, airless, and plural spray systems.
- Apply paint with brush and roll.
- Operate various types of equipment such as blast pots and spray guns.
- Knowledge of various painting methods and applications.
- Spray with consistent millage.
- Knowledge of various blasts.
- Prepare surfaces.
- Mix paints to desired colours and consistencies and mixing ratios as per requirements.
- Understanding or reading of drawings and/or blueprints.
- Safe operation of construction tools and equipment.
- Grinding, sanding, and polishing.
- Painting, caulking, and sealing.
- Experience with epoxy, polyurethane, and high solids coatings is preferred.
- Ability to apply all types of coatings using various application methods.
- Ability to read coating thickness gages and wet combs.

Qualifications and Experiences
Essential:
- IRATA - Any Level
- Train the Painter OR Technical coating experience to include the following:
- Painting and coating specifications
- Blasting and surface parameters
- Painting techniques
- Coating repair systems
- CCNSG, IOSHH, or Safety Passport Equivalent
- High level of site-based knowledge
- Physically Fit to carry out role
- Ability to adapt to change
- Ability to work within a team
- Fundamental Computer literacy
- Problem solving
- Comprehensive knowledge of blasting, surface preparation, and spraying equipment
Desirable:
- Valid MEWP certificate would be advantageous.
- PASMA tower certification would be advantageous
- Technical Skills: Operation and maintenance of machinery, ability to troubleshoot problems, use of hand tools.
- Communication Skills: Verbal and written
- Team Working Skills: Ability to work alongside a range of professions, ages, experiences, and abilities.
