As a Rotating Machines Tester/Fitter Technician here at JLR, you'll play a key role in preparing, instrumenting and testing propulsion systems, generating the high-quality data that supports engineering decisions across current and future programmes. You'll work at the forefront of propulsion development, supporting a wide range of test activities including durability, performance, emissions, certification and research programmes. This is an opportunity to develop your technical expertise within a collaborative environment while contributing to the development of innovative powertrain technologies.

  • Preparing, instrumenting and installing units under test to meet programme requirements
  • Operating propulsion test facilities and supporting the delivery of accurate and repeatable test data
  • Conducting inspections, fault diagnosis and rectification activities on propulsion systems and associated equipment
  • Supporting data analysis, issue investigation and root cause activities to improve product and test quality
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, quality, housekeeping and continuous improvement within the test environment

What You’ll Need

Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including:

  • Hold a Level 3 Apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Automotive or Motor Vehicle Engineering
  • Demonstrating practical experience working with engines, powertrain systems or mechanical test equipment in an engineering environment
  • Applying strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills while working to technical procedures and specifications
  • Using instrumentation, measurement equipment or data acquisition systems to support testing activities
  • Working effectively within a safety-critical environment whilst maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail
