We welcome applications from trainee pharmacists due to qualify in 2026, newly qualified pharmacists, community pharmacists, and those already working within hospital pharmacy or other sectors.
About the Role
We are seeking pharmacists who are committed to developing their clinical expertise and leadership skills, with a strong emphasis on patient-centred care. This role offers the chance to collaborate with clinicians across sectors in East Sussex, supporting the advancement of practice and contributing to improved patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with consultants, other medical staff, nurses, and pharmacy staff in ensuring that medicine use is safe, rational, effective, and evidence-based.
- Provide a clinical pharmacy service to a group of wards on a rotational basis.
- Support the dispensary in providing an efficient and timely service.
- Join the department weekend and on-call service on a rota basis following a period of orientation and induction.
- Act as a Practice Supervisor for Trainee Pharmacists and Pharmacy undergraduates.
Progression and Development
Progression and development are key priorities for our department. Rotational pharmacists will benefit from experience across a wide range of specialties at both our main hospital sites and community locations, with opportunities to work alongside multi-sector partners, including the local mental health trust. These rotations are designed to support career progression from post-registration Foundation training through to Advanced Level Practice.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
