Job Overview
This vacancy sits within our comprehensive and supportive Rotation Programme. The post holder will work as a key member of the ABUHB Dietetic & Weight Management Service, fulfilling a vital role delivering dietetic care within inpatient settings, outpatient clinics and patient education groups. They will participate fully in the rotation philosophy, gaining maximum benefit from time spent in each speciality, from training and education provided and from mentoring by Specialist Dietitians. This is a great opportunity to build on current knowledge in a variety of dietetic specialities and settings
The post provides an opportunity to learn and develop skills in a supportive environment. Regular protected CPD time is included as part of an individual workplan. Clinical Supervision and Preceptorship are offered to all band 5 dietitians. As applicable, training opportunities to include BDA modules, MI training, teaching qualifications and specialist group education are supported and funded.
Staff within our Rotation Programme will be encouraged to engage in audit and research. We welcome participation in our annual ABUHB Dietetic Showcase event by either assisting in the organisation of the event, producing a poster of taking part in presenting.

Main duties of the job
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is a large mixed (acute and community) Health Board covering 5 local authority boroughs; Torfaen, Newport, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly and Monmouthshire. In 2021 the Grange University Hospital was opened to provide specialist acute and critical care.
The Dietetic & Weight Management Service currently operates a varied Rotation Programme across the Health Board at the Grange University Hospital, our enhanced local general hospitals, community hospitals, primary care and public health settings. The successful candidate will be allocated to any vacant rotations we have available at the time, with opportunity to rotate again in April 2027

Qualifications And Knowledge
Essential criteria
- BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent qualification at degree level
- HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Clinical Educators Course with experience of using the BDA CAT tool
- BDA registration or equivalent
Skills and Attributes
Essential criteria
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post qualification experience in the relevant field
- Experience of presentations and teaching session skills
- Recent NHS Experience
Desirable criteria
- Some experience of a large scale catering establishment
Other
Essential criteria
- Able to develop and plan, setting priorities and meeting deadlines
- Able to deal with distressed patients / clients and carers
