Job Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, robust, and determined person who shares our commitment to end rough sleeping as soon as possible. This includes supporting single homeless people, some of whom have complex needs, to access and maintain accommodation.
City of York Council are looking to recruit 2 committed and enthusiastic individuals to provide intensive support to rough sleepers/single homeless people from the streets and into their own accommodation and to maintain it.
Role Responsibilities
- Support a caseload of customers.
- Direct engagement with customers to identify their support needs and explore the barriers which have prevented them having effective engagement with services.
- Aim to find ways of supporting customers to improve engagement with services and encourage coordinated holistic multi-agency working to develop realistic support plans.

Requirements
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of the issues facing homeless people and rough sleepers.
- Capability to work on your own initiative under the guidance of a supervisor.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and reasoning skills.
- Ability to solve problems effectively.
- Planning ahead, organizing workload, meeting deadlines, and managing workload effectively in a busy and often fast-paced environment.
Public Facing Role Requirements
- Demonstrate competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
