Logistics Officer Assistant in the Royal Navy

Logistics is the backbone of the Royal Navy. It’s your job to work closely with your Logistics Officer to make sure your crewmates have what they need, when they need it – wherever you are in the world. But being a logistician in the Submarine Service is different. Without you, the submarine wouldn’t – and couldn’t – be operational.

Wage: £20,400 a year. Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab). Start on a salary of over £20,400 on completion of your role specific training. A £5,000 bonus for earning your ‘Dolphins’, the mark of a submariner Additional Submariner pay of at least £34.00 per day at sea when fully qualified.

Training course: Supply chain warehouse operative (level 2)

Hours: Shifts to be confirmed. 40 hours a week

What you'll do at work:

• You’ll learn all the skills you need to ensure your submarine has everything it needs to be operationally effective, regardless of the rigours of the highly classified mission you’re deployed on
• Learn about managing a complex global supply chain, and how to source the items you need, all over the world
• Learn additional skills as an Incident Board operator, helping damage-control teams fight fires and floods
• A submarine’s first defence is stealth, so giving away its position is a huge consideration. Trips to the surface are for food supplies and your crewmates’ morale. These vital factors, and millions of pounds-worth of equipment, are in your hands.
