An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Roads Policing Prosecutions Support Officer.

Working in a team, you will support the processing of road traffic offences issued by Essex Police carrying out the following functions:

  • Produce high quality evidential files for minor traffic offences on behalf of the force.
  • Analyse, collate, and assemble evidence ensuring that it is evidentially of the highest standard and meets the evidential test for prosecution. This will involve liaison directly with external clients, members of the public, Crown Prosecution Services (CPS) and officers on cases that relate to road policing activities including but not exclusively, minor traffic offences and collisions.
  • Undertake checks against process maps as part of case progression and complete relevant escalation reports as appropriate to allow for full and thorough investigation of offences.
  • Provide excellent customer service to ensure timely processing and resolution of cases as appropriate, ensuring the reputation of the force is not compromised.

This unique opportunity provides a role which will present many different challenges each day, where you will be required to demonstrate flexibility and a passion to place victims and road safety at the heart of service delivery. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference in reducing road casualties on our roads, detecting road crime, and supporting officers on the front line.

The successful applicant will need to provide evidence of the following skills/experience within their application:

  • Experience of assessing information, identifying risk and making informed decisions.
  • Motivated, positive, proactive and inquisitive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to form resilient working relationships with colleagues.
  • Managing several competing demands with a need for prioritisation and ability to work independently.
  • Understand the importance of data quality and take a proactive approach to recording and maintaining accurate records.
  • Computer skills which will include the use of various applications/systems.

Essex Police offer agile working which designates that certain roles can offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including some home working. There will be a requirement to regularly attend the contractual workplace, as agreed with the line manager. Flexible working application are welcomed, and we look to be supportive of individual’s needs.

The specific requirements of this role will be discussed during the interview stages with candidates. The extent of flexibility will be agreed through individual assessment with the line manager to assess operational requirements and individual’s suitability for home working. During interview there will be prosecution-based scenarios to answer.
