About The Role

Benefact Group are looking for an RPG Developer to join our Gloucester office.

We're looking for a proven RPG developer to play a key role in supporting and enhancing our core insurance RPG application iPlus, the successor to i90. You'll help maintain business-critical applications, resolve issues, improve system performance, and ensure the continued stability and reliability of services that support our operations across the Group.

What you'll be doing

  • Application Support & Maintenance: Support and maintain core iPlus applications, investigating issues, implementing fixes, and ensuring services remain stable and reliable.
  • System Enhancements: Develop and deliver improvements to existing applications, helping to optimise processes and meet evolving business requirements.
  • Problem Investigation & Resolution: Analyse application issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions while minimising business disruption.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Work with testing and business teams to ensure changes are thoroughly validated and delivered to a high standard.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, support teams, and technical colleagues to ensure the continued success of the iPlus platform.

What you'll need to have

  • Excellent RPG skills – You’ll be working on software that has been the backbone of the company for 25 years so has different flavours of RPG that will need to be controlled
  • Programming Expertise: Proficiency in languages commonly used on IBM Power systems, such as RPG and CL
  • Programming Expertise: Strong knowledge of RPG, CL and IBM i development practices.
  • Support & Troubleshooting Experience: Experience diagnosing and resolving issues within complex business-critical applications

What makes you stand out

  • Experience with i90/iPlus – iPlus is the successor to i90 so knowledge of i90 would be highly advantageous, allowing you to quickly contribute to the ongoing support and development of the platform.
  • IBM i Platform Knowledge – Familiarity with IBM i tools and technologies, including IBM Navigator for i, job management, performance analysis, and application support activities.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset – A proactive approach to identifying opportunities to improve application stability, maintainability, and user experience.
