Location: This is a hybrid/field-based role, offering a combination of working remotely and from our offices, as well as being out visiting the branch network.
Here at RS, we have a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced and collaborative leader to join our organisation as a Divisional Manager, who will be responsible for the performance of all our RS Local branches throughout the North of the UK (from Birmingham to Aberdeen).
The Opportunity
This person will lead, develop and inspire the branch network to execute our Go-To-Market strategy, to deliver sustainable and profitable sales growth, ensuring targets are achieved and a truly world-class experience is consistently delivered for all customers. A role with a wide scope, this wearer of many hats will oversee not only the commercial, but also operational and service delivery scopes across the network.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will be responsible for the creation and delivery of the network strategy including ensuring branch optimisation, marketplace disruption, delivering our service proposition and that compliance is upheld. You will also seek to maximise profit growth through a high-performance culture.
Responsibilities:
- Delivering the RS Brand of ‘Seamless, Personal and Progressive’ in the tone, delivery, and commitment of every interaction through a soft-skills and customer experience programme
- Developing RS Local Branch Managers to be high performing people managers, focused on development and coaching to achieve performance, assessed via KPIs you have set
- Upholding QA against internal and external audits maintaining compliance
- Creating an environment that is focused on sales growth, looking for every opportunity to maximise business return and grow customer accounts through incremental revenue or lead identification and qualification with a sales-focused mentality, whilst ensuring the RS Local proposition remains aligned to customer needs, by way of customer relationship development.
- Promoting Process Improvement to eradicate non-value activity and introducing governance initiatives to ensure future-proof solutions are implemented
- Improving stock turn through merchandising, marketing, and sales strategies, optimising inventory investment and local product availability maximising customer outcomes and commercial return.
- People responsibilities - you will have direct line management of 8-9 RS Local Branch Managers, and indirect leadership of around 60 people including associated management structures and reporting lines.
- Capacity & Budget responsibility for Customer Operations Operational Budget of £4m
- Channel delivering in excess of £50m (with an ambition to double this in 3 to 5 years)

What You’ll Bring
Due to the level/nature of this opportunity and its wide-ranging responsibilities, we are looking for someone with a background of leadership experienced gained in a complex organisation, including leading branch operations and outstanding sales performance. Beyond that we would also like a combination of the following:
- A leader with a commercial mind of course, but also with a proud background of mentoring, coaching, and motivating to create high-performing leadership teams, with an aim to a highly engaged, inclusive and customer-focused culture that enables colleagues to deliver exceptional outcomes.
- Not just a leader, but also a team player, who is self-driven, with a high personal commitment to energising, building, and developing a business
- Creating and implementing talent management and succession planning strategies
- Lead organisational transformational change programmes, driving sustainable continuous improvement adoption, engagement and behavioural change across a geographically dispersed network.
- Budget, risk, and compliance management in a large and complex organisation
- Delivering results consistently, whilst improving customer experience and creating operational service capabilities for new service propositions
- Stakeholder management with the ability to influence, negotiate and gain buy-in at all levels
- Someone who is self-organised, flexible, motivated, driven to succeed and to share success through others
- A leader with customer relationship skills and a broad range of proven managerial competences and exceptional influencing skills
- Ability to analyse, diagnose and implement business improvement plans
