The Opportunity
RS PRO is a key growth engine for RS Group, with significant opportunity to drive greater value through stronger commercial discipline, sharper execution and more effective investment. As the business continues to grow, so does the number of commercial levers influencing performance, from pricing, margin and product range to supplier economics, paid media, sales activation and market execution.
As Commercial Performance Manager, you'll bring these levers together to create a clear view of performance, helping the business understand where growth is coming from, how profitable it is, and where action is needed. Working at the intersection of commercial strategy, analytics and execution, you'll turn complex data into actionable insight, influence senior stakeholders and help drive faster, evidence-based decisions that support sustainable, profitable growth.
We Are RS Pro
RS PRO is the own brand of RS. The RS PRO brand was launched in 2016 as a one-stop shop for industrial supplies. Now, it serves over 600,000 customers in 31 global locations.
With over 90,000 products across all industries and 1400 technologies, we have the largest offering in the RS portfolio of products. RS PRO provides customers with a brand that they can trust, at the price and quality they expect.
Our culture is paramount to our success, ensuring we have the right people in the team and a diverse view in the way we think and see the world is essential to how we operate.
What You Will Be Doing
Evolve end-to-end commercial performance reporting
- Support the Snr Dir, Commercial Growth & RS PRO President with an integrated view of revenue, gross profit, margin and commercial performance across markets, channels, customers and product groups.
- Connect performance drivers across assortment, pricing, discounting, supplier economics, channel acquisition, merchandising, sales activation and market execution, establishing both correlation and causality in performance shifts.
- Partner with Finance and Data & Insights to create a clear view of where growth is coming from, how profitable it is, emerging opportunities for optimisation, and where intervention is required.
Build commercial principles, guardrails and governance
- Define and embed commercial principles for pricing, discounting, promotions, deal structures and commercial investment in collaboration with group pricing and country markets.
- Establish pricing architecture and guardrails that balance global consistency with local market flexibility.
- Establish and maintain a monthly trading rhythm with key markets to evaluate performance, align on actions, and drive accountability on execution.
- Ensure major commercial decisions are transparent, evidence-led and aligned to RS PRO’s strategic and financial objectives.
Lead pricing, discounting and margin optimisation
- Own the RS PRO commercial framework for pricing and discounting, working in partnership with Group Pricing, Sales, Markets and Finance.
- Identify and address sources of margin leakage, including unmanaged discounting, tactical promotions, inconsistent deal terms and pricing drift.
- Support decision-making on margin-volume trade-offs, helping the business distinguish between profitable growth and margin-dilutive activity.
- Supports and enables commercial evaluation for pricing adjustments, including Price Elasticity testing, NPI lifecycle pricing, and connected considerations. Works with group pricing function to prioritise and action change in an agile manner to respond to dynamic market conditions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Improve return on commercial investment
- Assess the commercial return from acquisition channels, promotions, customer acquisition activity and other growth investments.
- Support SLT with prioritisation of initiatives and investments based on incremental gross profit and long-term value, not simply traffic, sales or activity.
- Partner with Marketing, Digital Merchandising and eCommerce teams to ensure demand-generation investment and on-site conversion activities are commercially supported and linked to measurable business outcomes.
Enable markets, sales and major opportunities to win profitably
- Partner with Business Development Managers, Sales and local markets to support major contracts, bids, volume opportunities and strategic customer deals.
- Provide commercial analysis to assess true incremental value, margin impact, cost-to-serve and deal quality.
- Create practical tools, playbooks and guidance that help markets act with pace while staying within agreed commercial guardrails.
Act as the cross-functional commercial integrator for RS PRO
- Work across Product, Category, Sourcing, Sales, Marketing, eCommerce, Finance and Data & Insights to align decisions to shared commercial outcomes.
- Bring a commercial lens to range, supplier, channel and go-to-market decisions, ensuring local or functional optimisation does not undermine overall RS PRO performance.
- Build the foundations for future commercial performance capability, including clearer operating rhythms, decision frameworks and potential future team scale.
What You’ll Bring
- Significant experience in a commercial, pricing, revenue growth, commercial excellence, trading, eCommerce, commercial finance or performance optimisation role.
- Experience in a B2B commercial environment, ideally within eCommerce, distribution, industrial products, manufacturing, retail, marketplace or other multi-channel businesses.
- Strong understanding of commercial and digital performance levers, including pricing, discounting, conversion, merchandising, customer journeys, product visibility and basket behaviour.
- Experience using experimentation, A/B testing, customer insight and performance analytics to drive commercial outcomes.
- Experience developing and operating pricing, discounting, commercial investment or deal governance frameworks.
- Strong understanding of price-volume-margin dynamics, with the ability to distinguish between value-accretive and margin-dilutive growth.
- Ability to link digital performance metrics to commercial outcomes, including revenue, profitability, customer acquisition, retention and ROI.
- Highly analytical, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Finance, Sales, Marketing, eCommerce, Product, Category, Pricing, UX/CX and Data teams.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and drive better commercial decisions.
- Ability to establish commercial principles, frameworks and guardrails that improve decision-making without slowing execution.
- Experience supporting major bids, contracts, negotiations and growth opportunities through robust commercial and financial analysis.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, building new capabilities and creating structure in evolving or less mature environments.
