JOB PURPOSE

We are hiring a Senior RTR Accountant to join Burberry Business Services in Leeds on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity cover. In this role, you will play an important part in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls and supporting key accounting processes across the business. Working closely with colleagues across Finance and external stakeholders, you will help ensure the smooth operation of the Record to Report function while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. This is an opportunity to make an immediate impact within a global luxury brand during a pivotal period of support and transition.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the reconciliation, review and approval of Record to Report balances and manual journal adjustments.
  • Prepare and review accurate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage assigned accounting processes from end to end, ensuring deadlines, controls and reporting requirements are met.
  • Build trusted relationships with Group Finance, external auditors and other stakeholders, resolving issues collaboratively and responding to queries promptly.
  • Support and guide direct reports through clear work reviews, regular feedback and day-to-day coaching.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls and deliver more effective ways of working.

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Studying towards, or qualified in, a recognised professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent.
  • Relevant accounting experience, including practical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
  • Confident working with complex financial information, large data sets and advanced Excel models to identify meaningful trends and insights.
  • Able to understand wider business considerations, provide clear functional guidance and build effective relationships across teams.
  • Experience with SAP, BPC, multicurrency accounting, retail, FMCG or a shared services environment would be beneficial.
  • A collaborative and thoughtful approach, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to financial control, continuous improvement and Burberry’s values.
