About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Contract Ruby Developer to join our dynamic engineering team on a 6-month initial contract, with the possibility of extension. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work remotely and contribute to the development of modern, scalable software applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems using Ruby, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders. The position requires a hands-on approach, emphasizing clean code, best practices, and innovative problem-solving. You will play a key role in enhancing existing systems and supporting the development of new features, ensuring high-quality deliverables within an agile environment.

Qualifications
- Proven commercial experience working with Ruby in a professional setting
- Experience with Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks
- Strong understanding of RESTful API development and consumption
- Solid knowledge of software engineering best practices and principles
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and writing maintainable, high-quality code
- Familiarity with modern development workflows including CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working within Agile methodologies and teams
- Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Ruby, ensuring performance, security, and reliability
- Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code following best practices
- Develop and integrate APIs and backend services to support application features
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features on time
- Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing sessions to improve engineering practices
- Support the ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of existing systems
- Implement automated testing strategies to ensure code quality and system stability
- Contribute to continuous integration and deployment processes to streamline delivery pipelines
