Job Description
You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary in-house team made up of chartered surveyors, building surveyors and planners. You will be part of a business which is big enough for a varied range of work and opportunities. However, it is small enough to provide autonomy and a chance to really get to know everyone - expanding your skills and building new connections across the West Midlands, Wales and beyond. Due to continued business growth we have identified a strategic requirement for an additional Rural Chartered Surveyor within our Head Office in Shrewsbury.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated surveyor who is seeking a varied and hands-on role with excellent opportunities for personal and professional development. This role offers exposure to a broad range of surveying disciplines, including rural agency, professional work, valuations, landlord and tenant matters, utilities and infrastructure projects, planning and development, and residential and commercial agency.
The successful candidate will work alongside a young, friendly and supportive team while continuing to play a key role in the firm's ongoing growth and development. This is a full-time, office-based role working 40 hours per week from Roger Parry & Partners’ Head Office in Bicton, Shrewsbury. The successful candidate will work closely with the rural surveying team and wider professional colleagues across the firm.
Role Purpose
The Rural Chartered Surveyor will be responsible for delivering a wide range of professional surveying and agency services to the firm's existing client base while helping to develop new business opportunities. This role is intentionally varied and will suit an individual who enjoys working across multiple disciplines within rural practice. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their own areas of expertise whilst benefiting from the support and experience of colleagues across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
