Rural Surveyor (Surveyor up to Associate Director level)
Cambridgeshire
Up to £70,000 Total Package + Profit Share Bonus + Pension
I’m exclusively partnering with one of the UK’s most established and highly regarded independent property consultancies to recruit an experienced Rural Surveyor / Associate Director for its respected Rural team in Cambridgeshire.
About the Business
Established in the 1800s, my client has been advising landowners, farmers, rural businesses and private estates for almost 200 years. Still privately owned and proudly independent, the business has developed an exceptional reputation across the East of England and is trusted by generations of farming families, landed estates, private clients and institutional landowners.
It offers the heritage, quality of work and professional standing associated with the major national property consultancies, while retaining the autonomy, culture and personal approach of an independent partnership. Its reputation has been built on technical excellence, long-standing client relationships and providing practical, commercially focused advice across the full rural property lifecycle.
This is an opportunity to join a business where quality is valued over volume, where individuals are trusted to build genuine client relationships, and where your contribution can have a visible impact.
The Opportunity
Joining an established and highly experienced Rural Department, you’ll become part of a collaborative team of surveyors based in Ely or Cambridge offices while working closely with specialists across the wider business. The role has a strong emphasis on rural professional work and valuations, with scope to become involved in agency, infrastructure, development, diversification and renewable energy projects depending on your experience and interests.
You’ll manage your own portfolio of clients across Cambridgeshire, West Norfolk, South Lincolnshire, Suffolk and the surrounding counties, advising farmers, landowners, estates and rural businesses on a varied range of property matters. For the right individual, there is genuine scope to develop towards Senior Associate Director and beyond.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
