🐕 We have a very rare vacancy for an RVN. At either Bury or Needham, Suffolk 🐈

🐾 Independent practice

🐾 £28-35k DOE

🐾 38h FT 4-day week, or PT minimum 24h

🐾 Uncapped CPD, RCVS fees, pension, BUPA cash plan, and wellbeing initiatives

🐾 1 in 8 weekends

It is not a very common occurrence that I get to write a job advert for an RVN as we have an incredibly low turnover of staff in the nursing team and as such positions are seldom available. However, we have a vacancy due to internal promotion and one of our nurses dropping some hours to pursue her side-passion of teaching, so we are looking forward to welcoming a new face to the team. Due to the flexibility we have within the team this could either be at our Bury St Edmunds hospital, or potentially at Needham Market due to the growth and expansion we have had there.

A little about us, and what makes us a bit unusual…

We are not only independent, we are fiercely so. We aren’t going to sell out. We have a super team that has grown organically to a powerhouse of over 50 across the 2 practices, they are the most talented and caring individuals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside. The nursing team is, in particular, something to behold. Their strength, depth, positivity, and levels of care are genuinely spectacular. We have cert holders in ECC, exotics, and imaging, and soon to be medicine, dentistry, and anaesthesia within the RVN team. We have people who lecture at BVNA and we have ex-BVNA council members. They are efficient and diligent and keep us vets on track in a fabulous way.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We have a motto of "do great work, with great people, for great people" and we sincerely care about our team. We look after people under our roof and offer unlimited CPD, BUPA cash plan, certificates encouraged, monthly counselling sessions, 4-day week (+ time back for working a weekend), excellent clinical standards, and the best clients you could wish for. Our nurses NURSE, there is no reception duties, we have a great team of ANA's who support the RVN team, and 2 awesome SVNs.

Our RVN's have a friendly rota of 38 hrs a week over 4 days, with a mix of early's, late's, long and short days at Bury. Needham is just short and long days. There is a share of OOH available to people who want it, and it comes with an extra financial bonus and an additional bonus system for additional money or time off, but we have so many people currently clambering for shifts OOH, it is not an absolute deal breaker for this particular hire. Fair share of weekends is needed, but it works out as half a weekend (days or nights) every 8 weeks ish. Plus, our OOH is only for our clients, so pretty comfortable and means you can deliver the best possible care. I appreciate this sounds quite complex, but we have the luxury of being able to offer a rather large degree of flexibility with this role, so please just get in touch if you would like more information!

Essentially, we are looking for a qualified RVN, who has a real "can do" attitude, is a team player, and has the same goals of fixing pets to the best of their ability alongside a great team. Everything else is a bonus. We are keen to find the right fit for our team rather than a fit for prescribed hours.
