Brighton Watersports has been a watersports activity centre and specialist shop on Brighton Beach since 2003, combining long-standing local experience with a strong safety focus. Founded by a New Zealand surfer, the team offers surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and group sessions for all abilities, alongside RYA-approved sailing and windsurfing courses. The beachfront store and online shop provide carefully selected wetsuits, boards, clothing, and equipment designed for quality and performance. With two decades on the beach and a knowledgeable, friendly team, Brighton Watersports is known for delivering both hands-on sea experiences and the right gear to support them. Role Description
This is freelance, on-site role based in Piddinghoe for an RYA Windsurf Instructor. The instructor will deliver RYA-approved windsurfing lessons to individuals and groups, ensuring safe, engaging, and progressive instruction for a range of abilities. Day-to-day tasks include:

- Planning and leading sessions

The role involves interacting with customers before and after sessions, answering questions about courses, and supporting bookings and basic shop enquiries as needed. The instructor will also help maintain equipment, contribute to a positive beachside atmosphere, and uphold Brighton Watersports’ standards for safety and customer experience.
Qualifications
- Strong windsurfing skills and experience, must hold relevant RYA instructor qualifications
- Customer Service and Sales abilities to welcome guests, handle enquiries, support bookings, and promote appropriate lessons or equipment.
- Presentations and instructional skills to deliver clear briefings, demonstrations, and feedback to individuals and groups.
- Research skills to stay updated on best practices, safety guidelines, and teaching techniques in watersports instruction.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse age groups and abilities.
- Strong awareness of water safety, risk assessment, and emergency procedures, including an RYA approved and in date first aid ticket
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and maintain a professional, approachable manner.
- Previous experience in watersports coaching or instruction is highly beneficial.
