Lancashire Constabulary is committed to keeping people safe and preventing harm. We are seeking a highly motivated and resilient Digital Media Classifier & CAID Support Officer to join our specialist team supporting the investigation of Child Abuse Investigation Database (CAID) referrals and digital media examinations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately and consistently apply SAP categorisation to images
  • Support the role of the victim identification work in identifying victims, suspects and locations within IIOC material, through investigative enquiries and use of technology, including but not limited to open source, PNC, PND, Public Phonebook, Cleartone, Cameraforensics, Cycomms, Cellbrite, 124-7, XL mapping.
  • Assist Police Officers / Investigators by way of advice regarding best practices in with the classification of images in relation to online child sexual abuse and safeguarding victims.
  • Identify opportunities in online child sexual abuse investigations to identify first-generation imagery of contact abuse.

Skills And Experience

  • CAID User training (or be prepared to work towards)
  • National Grading IIOC Accreditation (or be prepared to work towards within 3 months of appointment)
  • Experience of undertaking enquiries with other departments or agencies to gather information and intelligence and identify subjects
  • Experience of using Microsoft Software Applications, including MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access.

Vetting And Medical

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Management Vetting (RV). Please be aware there is a minimum 5 year UK residency requirement for Management vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.

Upon successful appointment as per the job specification, you will be required to provide your DNA for elimination purposes, this will be held against the Contamination Elimination Database (CED).

Please note, candidates successful at shortlisting will be required to undertake an assessment as part of the interview process.
