Position: Safe and Sound Manager
Salary: Up to £42,000
Location: Remote
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Safe and Sound Manager to join our Quality function and play a key role in protecting the safety, wellbeing, inclusion and welfare of our learners and colleagues.
Safe and Sound brings together Health and Safety and includED, covering safeguarding, Prevent, Equality and e-safety. The team works across the organisation to create safe, inclusive and supportive environments for colleagues, learners and stakeholders.
As Safe and Sound Manager, you will combine Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) responsibilities with leadership and support across health and safety, safeguarding, Prevent, e-safety and inclusion.
You will provide expert advice and guidance, manage and triage safeguarding concerns, undertake risk assessments, support multi-agency working and help embed a proactive culture of safety and inclusion across Paragon Skills and Shaping Lives.
This is a collaborative role requiring someone who can work confidently with colleagues, learners, managers, external agencies and other stakeholders to ensure safe and inclusive practices are embedded across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
IncludED - Safe
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Prevent Lead, and E-Safety Lead for defined businesses, fulfilling statutory responsibilities as outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education and the Prevent Duty
- Triage safeguarding cases and provide expert advice, guidance, and support to colleagues and stakeholders across all operating businesses
- Undertake safeguarding and Prevent risk assessments which inform the action planning process for includED
- Coach and support colleagues from across the operating businesses to report and record safeguarding concerns accurately and confidently
- Oversee filtering and monitoring to ensure online safety standards are met
IncludED - Sound
- Take lead responsibility for defined key areas of the Safe and Sound delivery framework
- Ensure the Safe and Sound People Standard is understood and implemented across the operating businesses
- Oversee My Concern for incident and concern reporting purposes
- Collaborate on the development and delivery of training solutions and resources that meet the statutory requirements for mandatory training in all includED and health and safety topics
- Contribute to the development and delivery of a comprehensive calendar of CPD events within Safe & Sound
- Design and deliver topic-based workshops to stakeholders which develop their understanding of key includED themes
Health and Safety - Safe
- Support line managers to mitigate risks identified in safe practices including DSE assessment and ensure the implementation of appropriate mitigations as relevant
- Support and guide the implementation of emergency procedures within defined operating business premises

Health and Safety - Sound
- Support line managers with the implementation of health and safety initiatives which drive the safe and sound delivery framework across the group
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, training, and incident reporting guidance
Strategy and Insight - Safe
- Support the implementation of Our Guide to includED and Our Guide to Staying Safe at Work through delivery of operational business actions
Strategy and Insight - Sound
- Support with the analysis of safeguarding and health and safety data, including learner voice data to produce insight reports which inform continuous improvement and colleague training and development activities
- Conduct operating business self-assessments and support cross group strategic planning and policy development
General Responsibilities
- Awareness and compliance with GDPR legislation, Data Protection, and all internal Information Security policies
- Regularly review own performance and maintain own CPD record
- Proactively promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people you are responsible

What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with strong professional experience across safeguarding and health and safety, who can combine technical knowledge with excellent communication, coaching and relationship-building skills.
Essential Qualifications
- GCSE Grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths.
- Relevant professional qualification in Safeguarding, such as Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead training.
- Relevant professional qualifications in Health & Safety would be desirable, such as IOSH
Essential Knowledge, Experience, Skills And Abilities
- Proven experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in a post-16 education or training setting
- Demonstrable experience in health and safety management, including risk assessments and incident response
- Experience in multi-agency working, particularly with local authorities and support services
- Strong working knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education, Prevent Duty, and Health and Safety at Work Act
- Experience designing and delivering mandatory training and CPD programmes and activities
- Ability to triage safeguarding cases and provide expert guidance
- Skilled in conducting safeguarding, Prevent, and health and safety risk assessments
- Confident in coaching and supporting colleagues to report and manage concerns
- Strong understanding of digital safety, e-safety, and online safeguarding
- Ability to analyse data and produce insight reports to inform strategy
Desirable Knowledge, Experience, Skills And Abilities
- Experience working in post-16 education or with NEET learners
- Experience in strategic planning and policy development across multiple business units
- Familiarity with Litmos or similar LMS platforms for training delivery and tracking
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence change
- Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles and how they apply to safeguarding and health and safety
