Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Safeguarding Adult Practitioner to join the Safeguarding and Vulnerable Patient Team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.
The postholder will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Trust's adult safeguarding agenda, providing visible, accessible and responsive specialist safeguarding advice and support to clinical teams across the organisation. The practitioner will work collaboratively with colleagues within the safeguarding team and with wider health, social care and multi-agency partners to support safe, person-centred safeguarding practice.
The role includes providing advice and consultation on adult safeguarding concerns, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, and supporting clinical teams to recognise, assess, escalate and appropriately manage safeguarding concerns.
Working within an integrated safeguarding service, the postholder will promote a Think Family approach, professional curiosity and compassionate persistence, while developing a broader understanding of safeguarding across the lifespan to support cross-cover within the team when required.
Main Duties of the Job
The Postholder Will
- Provide accessible specialist advice and support to staff regarding adult safeguarding, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
- Support staff to identify and appropriately escalate safeguarding concerns and promote person-centred approaches to safeguarding.
- Promote Think Family, professional curiosity and compassionate persistence throughout clinical practice.
- Work collaboratively with the wider safeguarding team and relevant multi-agency partners.
- Contribute to safeguarding data and intelligence provided to clinical divisions to inform clinical practice and management decision-making.
- Contribute to Safeguarding Adult Reviews, Multi-Agency Reviews, serious incidents and Domestic Homicide Reviews, including the preparation of chronologies where required.
- Act as a professional role model and support the development of less experienced and newly appointed staff.
- Contribute to safeguarding education, learning, service development and improvement activity.
- Support effective partnership working and information sharing to protect adults at risk and improve safeguarding outcomes.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for an experienced registered professional with a genuine interest in safeguarding adults, strong communication skills and the confidence to support colleagues with complex and sensitive situations.
The successful candidate should demonstrate sound knowledge of adult safeguarding principles, Mental Capacity and multi-agency working, alongside the ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively both independently and as part of the wider safeguarding team.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is approachable, professionally curious, person-centred and passionate about improving outcomes for adults at risk of abuse or neglect.
