Make a difference to the safety and wellbeing of adults across York.

We are looking for an organised, motivated and professional individual to join the Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB) as an Adults Safeguarding Board Support Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the work of a statutory multi-agency partnership that is committed to protecting adults with care and support needs from abuse and neglect.

The Role

You will provide high-quality business, administrative and governance support to the Safeguarding Adults Board, its Independent Chair, Business Manager and partner agencies.

The role sits at the centre of partnership working and offers the opportunity to contribute to initiatives that make a real difference to people across the city.

You will work closely with senior leaders and professionals from across health, social care, criminal justice and the voluntary sector, helping to ensure that safeguarding arrangements are effective and that partners work together to improve outcomes for adults.

In addition you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting Board and subgroup meetings, preparing agendas and papers, producing accurate minutes, monitoring actions and maintaining effective governance arrangements.

You will support the collection and analysis of safeguarding information, assist with the production of reports and publications, manage confidential records and contribute to the organisation of learning events, conferences and awareness activities.

The Successful Candidate

The role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload while maintaining high standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
