Help Educere Development Agency UK CIC establish strong safeguarding, inclusion and accessibility systems as we prepare to launch education, SEND, wellbeing and community programmes across the UK.
What difference will you make?
This role will help Educere establish the safeguarding and inclusion foundations needed to launch our UK activities safely, responsibly and confidently.
- The volunteer’s expertise will strengthen our policies, safer recruitment processes, risk assessments, reporting procedures and volunteer training.
- This will reduce safeguarding risks, improve accountability and ensure that everyone involved in our programmes understands how to recognise, report and respond to concerns.
- The role will also help us design education, SEND, wellbeing and community activities that are accessible and inclusive for children, young people, parents, carers, volunteers and people with additional needs.
- By reviewing our online-learning arrangements, the volunteer will help ensure that Educere’s Learning Management System provides safer, more accessible training and resources for educators, families, volunteers and community organisations.
Ultimately, this role will give Educere the confidence and structure to build trusted partnerships, recruit volunteers responsibly and deliver programmes that protect participants, promote inclusion and support our mission of improving educational opportunities and reducing inequalities.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a knowledgeable, dependable and approachable safeguarding professional who can help Educere establish strong and proportionate safeguarding and inclusion practices in the UK.
The most important requirement is:
- At least three years’ relevant professional experience in safeguarding, child protection, education, social care, healthcare, youth work, local government, charity services or a closely related field.

The ideal volunteer will have:
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding children and young people within a UK context.
- Practical experience applying safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Experience recognising, recording, reporting and escalating safeguarding concerns.
- An understanding of safer recruitment, professional boundaries, confidentiality and DBS eligibility.
- Experience reviewing policies, risk assessments or safeguarding arrangements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence to provide clear advice and challenge unsafe or inappropriate practice.
- An understanding of equality, diversity, SEND, disability inclusion and accessibility.
- The ability to work independently while keeping the Director and wider team informed.
- Good judgement, discretion and the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
It would be particularly valuable if the volunteer has:
- Previously worked as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, Deputy Safeguarding Lead, safeguarding officer or safeguarding adviser.
- Experience delivering safeguarding training, supporting online safety, working with schools or community organisations, or developing inclusive services.
The successful volunteer should be calm, fair, non-judgmental and culturally aware. They should be comfortable working with people from different professional, cultural and social backgrounds and be committed to protecting children, young people and adults at risk.
Applicants must be based in the United Kingdom and have a practical understanding of the UK safeguarding environment.

What will you be doing?
The Safeguarding and Inclusion Lead will help Educere Development Agency UK CIC establish safe, inclusive and accessible systems as we prepare to launch our first structured UK programmes.
Working closely with the Director and the wider volunteer leadership team, the volunteer will:
- Review and strengthen our safeguarding and child-protection policies and procedures.
- Develop clear processes for recording, reporting and escalating safeguarding concerns.
- Advise on safer volunteer recruitment, references, professional boundaries and DBS eligibility.
- Review safeguarding arrangements for online and in-person activities.
- Support safeguarding induction and refresher training for volunteers, facilitators and programme contributors.
- Advise on consent, photography, information sharing, online safety and risk assessments.
- Help ensure our programmes and Learning Management System are accessible and inclusive for people with SEND and other additional needs.
- Promote equality, diversity, disability inclusion and culturally responsive practice.
- Identify appropriate safeguarding referral pathways and local support contacts.
- Provide practical safeguarding advice to the Director, programme leads and volunteers.
Key initial deliverables will include a reviewed safeguarding policy, a clear concern-reporting procedure, safer recruitment guidance, a volunteer safeguarding induction and a safeguarding checklist for Educere’s first UK pilot programme.
The role forms part of Educere’s founding UK volunteer team, alongside the Volunteer and People Coordinator, Partnerships and Community Engagement Lead, and Education and SEND Programme Lead.
